PEDA signs MoU for biomass project
Chandigarh, Apr 19 (UNI) Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lakshmi Overseas Industries Ltd for setting up of a biomass co-generation project of capacity of 30 MW in Khamanon in Fatehgarh Sahib district.
This project shall generate both steam as well as power and after meeting the process and captive requirment of the rice mill, the company shall feed 25 MW surplus power to the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) grid, a PEDA release today said.
This project is being set up under the NRSE Policy 2001 of the state government for promoting power generation from Renewable Sources of Energy through private sector participation. The total cost of the project is Rs 118.47 crore.
The MoU on behalf of PEDA was signed by Mr Vijay Inder Singla, Chairman, PEDA while Mr Balbir Singh Uppal, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) signed on behalf of Lakshmi Overseas Industries Ltd.
