Ongole MP, Darsi MLA injured in dais collapse

Ongole, Apr 19 (UNI) Ongole Congress MP M Srinivas Reddy, Darsi MLA B Subba Reddy and Prakasham District Cooperative Central Bank Chairman Sankar Reddy were injured in a dais collapse during a statue unveiling function.

However, State Animal Husbandry Minister Gollapalli Surya Rao and two other women escaped unhurt.

Police said the incident happened after Mr Surya Rao unveiled the statue of former Santanutanapadu MLA Vema Yellaiah in Chimakurti Mandal of Prakasham district.

After the function Mr Surya Rao, Ongole MP, Darsi MLA, his wife Venkayamma and Prakasham district Mahila Congress President Narsamma came to dais erected for the function when the mishap occurred.

The injured were taken to a local hospital.
