Imphal, Apr 19 (UNI) Newspapers did not hit the stands in Manipur today to protest the detention of six editors by Kangleipak Communist Party cadres in Meitei.

The journalists of the state, under the aegis of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and Editors'Forum of Manipur(EFM), took out a rally in Imphal yesterday, wearing black badges to protest the atrocities of the militant group.

The journalists later submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding freedom of the journalists.

The KCP had detained six editors to ensure that their statements were published.

The militant group had also banned an English daily for three months for not quoting their statements.
