Meghalaya govt seeks clarification on controversial MBOSE Bill
Shillong, Apr 19 (UNI) Governor M M Jacob has returned the Meghalaya Board of School Education Bill 2006 to the government seeking clarification on some issues.
The controversial Bill was passed in the state assembly on March 24 that sought to restructure the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE).
The Bill proposes setting up of a regional MBOSE office in Shillong in addition to its existing headquarters at Tura in the Garo Hills.
The Bill was passed amid uproar by the NCP members in the House which later triggered sporadic violence in three Garo Hills districts.
The Governor returned the Bill seeking clarification whether the officials mentioned in the Bill would operate from the headquarters at Tura and whether the draft rules of the Bill had been finalised, said a Raj Bhavan communique today.
