Tiruchirapalli, Apr 19; DMK leader and Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dayanidhi Maran has challenged MDMK supremo Vaiko to share a platform with state Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and seek an apology from her for detaining him under POTA.
Addressing a public meeting as part of his campaign at Woraiyur here last night, Mr Maran said Vaiko had lost his credibility and was become a liabililty to his own party and alliance because of his changing colours during the last few years.
On Ms Jayalalithaa's assurance to provide five lakh jobs, he asked how she could make such an announcement when she had slapped a ban on recruitments.
Terming ''Bogus'' the Chief Minister's assurance to give ten kg rice free of cost every month, Mr Maran said people can not be cheated by such false promises. Her sudden offer came out of fear that she would be dethroned by the people in the ensuing assembly elections, he added.
Listing various achievements of Central Ministers representing Tamil Nadu in the UPA government, he said implementation of the Sethusamudram project, introduction of Kashmir to Kanyakumari Re-one phone tariff and Nokia's manufacturing unit were all achievements. But the ruling AIADMK Government could not name a single worthwhile scheme to its credit in its regime, he added.
He indicated that Tamil Nadu would prosper only if the people voted for the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA), which had good relations with the Centre.
