Lt Gov reviews preparedness for 2010 Commonwealth Games

New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) Delhi Lt Governor B L Joshi today reviewed the preparedness for the 2010 Commonwealth Games to be held in the national capital.

Talking to mediapersons after a presentation of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) on upgrade of five Sports Authority of India (SAI) complexes for the games, Mr Joshi said the preparatory work must progress with the objective of completing construction by 2009.

He also commended CPWD for initiating renovation and new construction in the five SAI venues.

The Lt Governor advised SAI to get inputs from Traffic and Security Authorities at the planning stage for the smooth conduct of the games.

The CPWD has developed the preliminary concept for augmentation, renovation and new construction of the five SAI venues to match the parameters laid by Commonwealth Games Federation.

The five complexes are Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium Sports Complex for Boxing and Weightlifting, Major Dhyanchand National Stadium for Hockey, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Aquatic Complex, Indira Gandhi Sports Complex for Gymnastics and Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range.
