LF not to tolerate repoll because of very heavy turnout

Kolkata, Apr 19 (UNI) The ruling Left Front in West Bengal today said that the EC's decision to order a repoll in booths witnessing more than 80 per cent turnout could not be tolerated.

''We are happy that repolling has been ordered due to the malfunctioning of EVMs in Jhalda, but repolls because of more than 80 per cent turnout will not be tolerated, '' Front Chairman Biman Bose told newspersons here.

He said the identity card of each and every voter had been checked thrice, and ordering of repoll even after that was not ''viable.'' Mr Bose came down heavily on the Opposition charge of scientific rigging and wondered what exactly they meant by that term.

''The people of the state had rejected the Opposition allegation,'' he said, asserting that the Front would romp home this time also.
