Interstate gang of robbers busted
Chandigarh, Apr 19 (UNI) The Ferozepur Police has busted an interstate gang of eight robbers and recovered a Jeep, cash and ornaments from their possession.
Disclosing this here today, Ferozepur SSP Arpit Shukla said that Zira police had nabbed gang leader Lakhwinder Singh alias Bittu and seized a Jeep which was earlier looted by him. On search of the vehicle, cash amounting to Rs 26,500 was recovered.
Gold ornaments weighing 188 gram and cash of Rs 1,23,600 were recovered from the hideout of the gang leader, Mr Shukla added.
During interrogation, Bittu confessed to have formed a group which indulged in robberies.
He said earlier this gang had looted Rs 10,000 at gun point from Appra village, attacked a salesman of petrol pump at Amritsar and taken away Rs 60,000, from him, and stolen one Qualis at Doraha Road, Ludhiana, and a Tyota Inova at Karnal Road in Kurukshetra.
The gang had also looted half Kg gold ornaments from a residential house in Ludhiana after making their entry into the house claiming to be meter reader, the SSP said.
