Income tax officials raids tobacco and 'katha' firms

Kanpur, Apr 19 (UNI) Income Tax department sleuths today claimed to have unearthed cases of tax evasion running into several lakhs after raiding establishments of two leading tobacco businessmen in this industrial city.

IT Department sources said here that raids were conducted at establihments of the tobbaco businessmen in Transportnagar, Nayaganj and Kidwai Nagar, from where the sleuths seized documentary evidence pertaining to tax evasion worth several lakhs of rupees.

The exact amount of tax evasion was yet to be ascertained, sources added.
