Government brings security personnel under insurance cover

Ranchi, Apr 19 (UNI) The Jharkhand government has brought the security personnel, involved in anti-naxalite operation in the state under insurance cover.

All the security personnel, including state police, para-military forces and army personnel will be included in the scheme.

The state government has entered into an agreement with the United Insurance Company, The Oriental Insurance Company and The New India Insurance Company for the purpose yesterday.

Home Minister Sudeh Mahato handed over a cheque of Rs 2.47 crore to Mr Rakesh Kumar Chief Regional Manager of the Oriental Insurence company as a premimum for 2006-2007 in a function here.

The Home Minister also handed over anti-mine vehicles to the Superintendent of Police of naxal affected districts.
