Former MLA injured in acid attack
Allahabad, Apr 19: Unidentified miscreants today threw acid on former Uttar Pradesh MLA Ramakant Mishra in the Balrampur House Colony here.
Police said Mr Mishra was standing in front of his residence when he was attacked. The assailants managed to escape.
He received serious 45 per cent burns and was rushed to S R N Hospital.
Mr Mishra was elected from Bara constituency of Allahabad in 1980 and 1984 on Congress tickets. However, he left Congress in 1995 and joined the BJP. Later, he joined the Samajwadi Party.
The reason behind the crime is still not known. No arrest had been made so far.
