District Court sentences murder accused to four-year imprisonment

Faridabad, Apr 19 (UNI) Additional District Judge R S Virk sentenced a cable operator to a four-year imprisonment and slammed Rs 20,000 as fine in a murder case, sources said.

The judgement was given here yesterday.

Ashok, the cable operator had an argument with a customer, Tejvir, over non-payment of cable bills and stabbed him to death in May 2002, police said.

An FIR was lodged with the Mujesar police station and Ashok was arrested and produced in the Court, police added.

In another case, the Court gave one-year imprisonment to Mahender along with Rs 1,000 fine for accepting bribe, sources said.

Mahender, a tehsil computer clerk, was caught red-handed by the vigilance department while he was accepting bribe of Rs 1,000 from Sayeed for the registry of a land, sources added.
