Sydney, Apr 19 (UNI) Cricket Australia (CA) Chief Executive James Sutherland today asked Ricky Ponting to explain his behaviour during the second Test against Bangladesh where he was fined for showing dissent at an umpiring decision.

''I am intending to talk to him,'' an AAP report quoted the CA chief was quoted as saying.

''I want to get Ricky's perspective on that to get a better understanding of exactly what happened. When Australian players are reported and are found guilty, I've certainly got concerns about that,'' he added.

The Aussie was fined 25 per cent of his match fee after being found guilty of showing dissent following a complaint by the Bangladeshi team. Ponting had objected to a third umpire's decision, which ruled Bangladesh batsman Aftab Ahmed not out after TV replays proved inconclusive. His dissent led to the reversal of the decision and disciplinary action against him.

Mr Sutherland said he had no doubt that the skipper played by the rules but was concerned about such incidents tarnishing the reputation of the team.

''I do know that Ricky is absolutely committed to the spirit of cricket and generally speaking the Australian team do get it right.

But at the same time I'm also concerned that an incident like this has occurred,'' he said.
