Union Bank of India branch robbed
Amritsar, Apr 19: An unspecified number of thieves robbed Rs 38 lakh from the Union Bank of India (UBI) branch at Fowahara Chowk in the walled city on the main road leading to the Golden Temple, police today said.
Chief Manager V K Mehta informed the police this morning that a sum of Rs 38 lakh was missing from the chest of the bank located on the second floor. The two locks on the front entrance of the bank were also found broken when the staff reached the building for their duty in the morning.
The staff informed Mr Mehta who in turn informed the police.On counting the money in the chest it was found that Rs 38 lakh were missing. There was Rs 1.37 crore in the chest.
Police have registered a case and investigations were on.
