BSNL Cellulat Services revenue Exceeds Rs 8 cr in 20005-06

Tirupati, Apr 18 (UNI) The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Tirupati division has earned Rs 5 crore from basic phone services, while the cellular service revenue exceeded by Rs 8 crore for the year 2005-06, telecom district General Manager R Mani said today.

Addressing a press conference, he said the company earned Rs 1.70 crore by providing 194 new leased circuits. However, through India Telephone Cards (ITC), it earned more than Rs 85 lakh and Rs 75 lakh from the defaulters during the same year.

BSNL had provided 18,855 basic phone connections, 27,562 prepaid and 7,304 postpaid It also extended its services to 4,161 internet connections, 74 ISDN connections and 1037 broad-band connections, launched in Tirupati in June last year, the GM said.

The Rs 1.20 crore Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams project (TTD) was completed in scheduled time , the GM said.

The same project worth Rs 80 lakh was also taken up at APSPDCL and completed on time.

Mr Mani stated that Centrex with capacity of 1100 lines was provided at Tirupati and at Tirumala hills, and another 30 lines capacity was provided for APSRTC in Tirupati.

Referring to fibre in loop overlay project, he said the project, covering entire Tirupati, was under progress for providing OFC media to all banks, industrial establishments, high-rise apartments, educational institutions and important departments here.
