BJP Corporators ransack Municipal Commissioner's office
Rajkot, Apr 19 (UNI) In a shocking incident here, nearly 20 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Corporators stormed into the office of Rajkot Municipal Coporation Commissioner and ransacked it and also tried to physically assault Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar this afternoon.
Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar told UNI that 18 corporators, who entered his chamber had a heated argument with him over some petty issue and they tried to physically assault him.
''The men also ransacked the office furniture. However, I escaped with minor injuries near my eye,'' said Kumar.
BJP Corporator Narendra Dav confronted the Commissioner along with other corporators over some local issue, which took an ugly turn.
The Commissioner said that complaint has been lodged against the 18 corporators.
Meanwhile, Rajkot Mayor Dhansukh Bhanderi on the other hand said that the corporators had gone to discuss a local issue with the commissioner. However, he refused entry to the corporators who then broke into the office.
Later, BJP corporator Vallabh Dudhatra and three others were injured in the scuffle, Mr Bhanderi said.
All the injured have been admitted to the civil hospital. The police are investigating the incident. However, no arrests have been made, police said.
