Mumbai, Apr 19 (UNI) Pastor Alexander George, the accused in an alleged rape of a young girl at an orphanage home at Nalasopara in the adjoining Thane district, arrived last night in Mumbai, contemplating a possible surrender.

The accused, a pastor of the local church, is facing a criminal case of rape of a 10-year old girl at the 'Wings of Refuge Orphanage' run by him.

The case was filed at the Nalasopara police station by the victim's teacher Kavita Bansode on April 13.

Subsequently, a police party was sent to Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu to arrest the absconding pastor.

Investigating Officer told UNI that the police team is still in Tamil Nadu and would return soon in view of reports that the pastor is in Mumbai.

The officer stated that mother Anandi Joseph, in-charge of the orphanage, and Sunder Raj, associated with the orphanage, is in police custody.

When contacted, Pastor Alexander told UNI that the entire case was fabricated as a part of a larger vendetta to defame him by a group of former parishers (Church goers).

He was at Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu when the police compliant was filed against him for the alleged rape.

On enquiring about the former parishers, Alexander alleged that one Venkatachalam, secretary of the South Indian Seva Samajam in Nalasopara, had an illicit relation with a married woman, who was working as a clerk in the nearby Sharada Vidayalaya.

On opposing their relationship, the duo left the parish following the withdrawal of 34 children from the Sharada Vidayalaya by the orphanage authorities to avoid further embarrasment.

The pastor alleged that the duo along with complainant (Kavita Bansode) and another parisher hatched the conspiracy to defame him and his parish during his absence.

He added that the alleged victim was kidnapped by the trio prior to the filing of criminal case against him and the police filed a missing compliant instead of a kidnapping case.

Pastor Alexander said, ''I am a law graduate and will fight for justice as there are many loopholes in the criminal case filed against me.'' UNI GVS KD ARB KP1859
