K'taka govt releases Rs 1,445 cr to TPs, ZPs

Bangalore, Apr 18 (UNI) The Karnataka Government today released Rs 573 crore and Rs 872 crore to Zilla and Taluk Panchayats respectively for the implementation of various Plan and Non-Plan programmes.

An order to this effect was issued by the Finance Department, an official release here said.

It may be recalled that Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had assured on the floor of the State Legislature that funds would be released in the second week of every quarter to avoid delay in implementing programmes.

In all, Rs 1,445 crore was released for the first quarter (April to June) to the Taluk and Zilla Panchayats, the release added.
