K'taka CM asked to cancel land allotted to real estate agents

Bangalore, Apr 18 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council and senior Congress leader H K Patil today urged Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to immediately cancel 5,040 acres of land allotted to five real estate developers in Bangalore urban and rural and Mandya districts.

Speaking to newspersons here, he alleged that the high-level Allotment Committee, set up by the government, had decided to allot the land to the real estate agents while clearing 20 other projects, including IT, on March 24 last. The Committee had in all sanctioned 8059.16 acres of land.

He said the state government had committed its ''biggest mistake'' by giving away material wealth of the state to the Mumbai-based agents.

Giving three days time to Mr Kumaraswamy to cancel the allotment, Mr Patil said if he failed, then the motive behind the allotment would be suspected.
