Guwahati, Apr 18 (UNI) The home of one-horned rhinocerous, the Kaziranga National Park (KNP), in Assam could generate more revenue in the just ended tourist season although the park received lesser number of tourists from abroad this time.

However, increased flow of domestic tourists help the park authority to collect more revenue in the form of tourists entry fees in the last season during November, 2005, to March, 2006.

During the season of 2005-06 the Park received 4,711 foreign tourists compared to 5,154 visitors from abroad during the previous season. However, the KNP authority declined to term it as indicative of a trend.

The KNP authority is happy because of overwhelming response from domestic tourists during the last season which ensured marginal increase in revenue collection compared to the previous season.

During the year 2005-06 total 81,758 tourists including 77,047 visitors from within the country came to Kaziranga Park that facilitated revenue earning to the tune of Rs 66,20,168.
