Boeing says to lay off 900 more Wichita employees
NEW YORK, Apr 17 (Reuters) Boeing Co. said today it planned to lay off 900 more employees from its operations in Wichita, Kansas, citing defense budget cuts, delays in some contracts and the completion of others.
The top US planemaker said the cuts, which will result in part from the completion of a contract to install new engines for US Air Force refueling tankers, will initially affect 360 workers, mostly salaried and management support employees within its defense unit.
