Advani dares Cong to bring bill for statehood to Telangana
Hyderabad, Apr 18 (UNI) Challenging the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre to introduce a bill in Parliament in the next month's session for creation of Telangana state, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani today declared the BJP will extend full support to it.
The BJP's stand was very clear. The party had time and again said it was for creation of smaller states for administrative convenience, he told a massive public meeting at the Nizam College grounds, amid applause.
The Congress, which had got electoral gain by joining hands with the TRS, a party floated for realisation of statehood for the region, had been dilly-dallying on the issue and asking the TRS to talk to the BJP, the former deputy prime minister, who was here as part of his ''Bharat Suraksha Yatra'', opined.
Unlike the Congress, the BJP kept up its promises made during the polls earlier in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh and ensured creation of Jharkhand, Uttaranchal and Chhattisgarh, he pointed out.
