Hyderabad, Apr 18 (UNI) Senior BJP leader L K Advani tonight appealed to the Muslim community to facilitate construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya and ''earn a place of pride in history''.

''This is the wish of crores of Hindus. This will help create goodwill between the two communities'', he said while addressing a massive public meeting at the Nizam College grounds, amidst huge applause.

The BJP, when in power, had tried its best to achieve this as various parties supporting the Government had agreed for construction of the temple either through a court verdict or through conciliation between the two communities, he said.

The people of Andhra Pradesh very well knew this, he said recalling the Nizam realising the folly of putting in jail Tahsildar Gopanna for building Ram Temple at Bhadrachalam and started the practice of sending ''Tanishaa'' to the Ram temple on the occasion of ''Sriramanvami''.

In a bid to drive home his point, Mr Advani draw analogies from the epic Ramayana and said the governments, both at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh, were sleeping like Kumbhakarna and his Yatra was meant only to awaken them. ''If they failed to wake up, they will have to undergo the same fate as that of Kumbhakarna.'' He praised the BJP government in Gujarat and proclaimed its Chief Minister Narender Modi as a model.
