Proper use of industrial plots to be ensured, says CM

Shimla, Apr 17 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today threatened evacuation of people who were using their industrial plots for other purposes than for which it was allotted and said his government would ensured their proper use.

People using their industrial plots for other purposes than for which it was allotted would be evacuated, he said after inaugurating the export-oriented unit of the Anand Group of Industries here.

Mr. Singh said Himachal had seen rapid industrialisation in the state during the last three years and had attracted investment proposals for 6,881 new units with an estimated investment of Rs 16,781 crore, providing employment to 2.40 lakh people after coming into production.

The government was also ensuring that the industrial units provide employment to 70 per cent people from Himachal at all levels, he said.

The Chief Minister said the state had also emerged as the second best textile manufacturer after Surat and over 350 textile units were at different stages of production, besides several new pharmaceutical units.

These pharmaceutical units would manufacture over 60 per cent of the total medicines being produced in the country, he said.

Mr. Singh said despite having vast deposits of lime in the state, his government was allowing setting up of cement plants in far-flung isolated areas that were least inhabited, while ensuring that the units adopted the latest pollution control methods.

The basic infrastructure in the industrial sector was being strengthened to help them progress and develop, he added.
