Officials mistake dwarf couple alliance for child marriage

Badwani, MP, Apr 17 (UNI) A dwarf couple, 3 feet-tall bridegroom and 2.75-feet-tall bride, tied the knot recently at Dharmapuri in Dhar district.

Interestingly, the officials in the village recieved an information that a child marriage was being solemnised and thus hurried for the wedding venue.

However, on finding the reality they blessed the couple.

Gendalal (24), who was worried about finding a suitable life partner given his small height, was delighted to get married to Shanta (19) on April 15.

Shanta said her three brothers had normal height but she was a dwarf and hence was worried about her marriage but Gendalal assured her of a life-long relationship.

Shanta, who appeared for her Xth examination this year, is well-versed in household chores, while Gendalal works in Badwani Municipality.

The dwarf couple received a warm welcome by villagers on return to Taloon village in this district after the wedding.
