Month long UP Police 'Crime Drive' from April 20
Lucknow, Apr 16 (UNI) Action will be initiated against notorious and wanted criminals, mafioso, besides land sharks during a month long 'Crime Drive' to be undertaken by the Uttar Pradesh Police from April 20.
State Director General of Police Bua Singh said here today that police officials across the state have been directed to work for the success of the drive.
Addressing the meeting of police officials from Lucknow Zone here, Mr Singh said that though data suggested that there has been a decline in crime in the Zone, but this decline should best be experienced by the commoners.
Directing the police personnel to ensure that repeat of Meerut/ Aligarh like tragedy does not occur in the state, Mr Singh cautioned that any failure in this regard will result in stringent action against the officials concerned.
He also said that there was no place for corruption in state police and those found involved in such misdeeds will be ousted from the police force.
The DGP further said that during the month long drive, efforts should be made to prevent incidents of road hold ups.
