J K Sharma all set to be elected chairman MCD Standing Committee

New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) Jai Kishen Sharma of the Congress is all set to be unanimously elected for the post of the chairman of the Standing committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Mr Sharma's election to the post is a foregone conclusion as he is the only person to have filed his nomination till today, the last day for filing of nominations. The BJP has not filed any nomination for the post.

Way has also been paved for the unanimous election of Mr Tarsem Bansal of the Congress for the post of deputy chairman of the MCD Standing Committee with Mr Bansal being the only candidate to have filed nomination till today's deadline.

Formal election to the post will, however, be held in the meeting of the Standing committee on April 21.

In the 18-member Satnding Committee, 16 members belong to the Congress party and remaining two from the BJP.
