Govt orders judicial inquiry into gangrape of woman agitationist

Dehra Dun, Apr 17 (UNI) The Uttaranchal government today ordered a judicial inquiry to probe into the alleged gangrape of a woman agitationist in Gangolihaat of Uttarkashi district on April 11.

Opposition in the Assembly, including the BJP, BSP and Uttarakhand Kranti Dal, during zero hour demanded a CBI probe into the incident.

The woman was staging a dharna along with 10 other women, demanding closure of liquor shops in the Gangolihaat area.

State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Indira Hridayesh while ordering the probe in the Assembly said the Home Ministry will be given instructions to look into matter.
