Farooq elected lifetime President of JK Cricket Association

Srinagar, Apr 17 (UNI) Former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah was today elected as the lifetime President of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).

The JKCA held its election today after three years.

Mehboob Iqbal and Mir Manzoor Gazanfar were declared elected unopposed as the JKCA Chairman and Treasurer respectively.

Salim Khan defeated Moti Lal Nehru 55-7 for the post of General Secretary.

For the Srinagar wing, Manzoor Wazir and Majid Drabu were declared elected unopposed as Vice-Chairman and Joint Treasurer respectively.

Imtiyaz Zargar defeated Mohammad Maqbool 55-7 for the Joint Secretary.

For Jammu wing, Shyam Saroop, Sumit Sharma and Tilak Singh were declared elected unopposed Vice-Chairman, Joint Secretary and Joint Treasurer respectively.

Talking to UNI after being elected as the JKCA Chairman, Mehboob Iqbal said the Association would make serious efforts for improving the cricket facilities in the state.

The JKCA will also upgrade the facilities at the Sher-i-Kashmir cricket stadium here to make it fit for international matches.
