Snow in higher and rain in lower areas of HP

Shimla, Apr 16 (UNI) The higher altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh were receiving snowfall, while the lower areas of the state being lashed by light showers since early morning today, plummeting temperature in the state.

The higher reaches of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnuar, Chamba and Kullu districts were receiving snowfall since 1000 hrs, while light rains were reported from the lower areas of these districts.

The 13,050 foot high Rotang Pass and high peaks in Pangi and Bharmaour areas of Chamba district were also receiving snowfall.

The famous tourist resort of Manali in Kullu distict was lashed by light showers, while the higher areas of the district were experiencing snowfall.

Shimla and its adjoining areas were also lashed by light showers in the morning and later again in the evening, plummeting temperatures in the state capital.

Reports of light rains were also received from other districts of the state.

The state capital recorded a day temperature of 19.6 degrees and a low of 11.3, while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded minimum temperatures of 13.2 and 11.2 degree Celsius respectively.

Kalpa in Kinuar district recorded a night temperature of 3.7 degrees.

However, traffic was normal on all the state and national highways, except the Manali-Leh highway that is usually closed in winters, official sources said.
