Pondy minister to contest as Independent candidate
Pondicherry, Apr 16(UNI) Pondicherry Local Administration Minister A Ezhumalai, who was denied a ticket by the Congress party to contest the assembly elections, would contest as an Independent candidate from his Ossudu(SC) Constituency.
Addressing a press conference here today after a meeting of his supporters, he said that he had worked hard for the Congress party and ensured its development in the constituency.
Mr Ezhumalai said the Congress, however, was trying to be vindictive on him when they allotted the constituency to the DMK, under the seat sharing agreement.
He said he would resign his ministerial portfolio soon to prove that he and his supporters are the real Congress.
A large number of people, including prominant personalities in the village attended the meeting convened by him.
