NBA leader alleges attack on its office planned by BJP

Written by: Staff

Vadodara, Apr 16: Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Rohit Prajapati today alleged that yesterday's mob attack on the NBA office located in Shivam apartment in Ellora Park area of the city, was a well-planned conspiracy hatched by the BJP and the Gujarat Government.

Mr Prajapati further alleged that though the police were present the remained a mute spectator at the time of the incident when over 1,000 BJP activists led by local councillors and leaders attacked and ransacked the NBA headquarters here last evening.

The NBA activist, who arrived here from New Delhi, said that no police protection was given to the NBA office despite of his intimation of such possibilities to the Vadodara City Police Commissioner Deepak Swaroop, in the wake of an attack by BJP activists on several cinema-houses in the city where the movies of cine actor Amir Khan, mainly his recent released ''Rang De Basanti,'' were being screened because he had supported the NBA movement in New Delhi.

He also said the matter would be brought before the National Human Right Commission as the attack was like a renegade action of Godhra carnage but fortunately no NBA activists was present at that time in the NBA office as they all had gone to New Delhi to participate in the Dharna undertaken by their leader Medha Patkar.

Mr Prajapati also refused to take the office-key from the police which attempted to hand it over to him.

Meanwhile, city police have registered a case under section 143, 452, 427 and 128 of IPC.
