LJP to contest 100 seats in TN polls, ten in Pondy

Chennai, Apr 16 (UNI) The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) will contest 100 seats in the May eight polls to the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

Announcing this after a meeting of party workers here, LJP Parliamentary Board Chairman and Dalit Sena National President Ramachandra Paswan told reporters that the list of candidates would be finalised by tomorrow.

''We have been getting applications from the party workers.They will be screened and the candidates will be selected,'' he added.

He said his party would have an understanding with Ambedkar Congress party and a Dalit movement formed by former bureaucrat S Karuppan for the elections.

The dates for campaignin for the party's candidates by LJP President and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan would be decided soon.

To a question, he said the LJP would also contest ten seats in the Union Territory of Pondicherry.

LJP National Youth General Secretary M Palanimuthu said the party would strive for the welfare of the Dalits, minorities, the Backward Classes, SC and ST communities.
