Rs 1.15 cr collection on Apr 14

Tirumala, Apr 16: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) ''earned'' a record Rs 1.15 crore from the Hundi at the world famous Lord Venkateswara temple on Tamil New Year Day on April 14 TTD officials said.

A woman devotee got stuck in the huge gathering, but the situation was brought under control, following the implementation of 'Maha Laghu Darshan' system the officials said.

The offerings in the Hundi included Rs 21 lakh from a Mumbai industrialist and Rs six lakh from a Kolkata-based businessman, the officials added.
