George Telegraph lift Sharad Pawar invitation football trophy

Kolhapur, Apr 16 (UNI) George Telegraph, Kolkata, lifted the Sharad Pawar Invitation Football Tournament trophy defeating CIL, Bangalore, by 4-2 goals in a tie-breaker played at the Shahu Stadium here today.

In a tough final, T Sandy of the Kolkata team scored the first goal in the 40th minute to give his side a 1-0 lead.

But, their joy was short-lives as in the second half, Bisigaran of CIL earned an equaliser for his team. The score stood at 1-1 after the full-time following which the tie-break was resorted in which George Telegraph emerged winners at 4-2.

As many as 22 teams, including seven out-station teams, had participated in the week-long tourney. Maharashtra School Education Minister Hasan Mushriff gave away the trophies and awards.
