Ex union minister claims SP may upset poll calculations in Rae Barel
Lucknow, Apr 16 (UNI) Former Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma today claimed that the ruling Samajwadi Party may upset pollsters calculations in the May eight Rae Bareli parliamentary bypoll.
Mr Verma, also the national general secretary of SP, addressing a press conference here said the party's candidate Rajkumar Chowdhary -- who happens to be his son-in-law -- would make the re-election of AICC president Sonia Gandhi to Lok Sabha, a cumbersome task from Rae Bareli seat.
Mr Chowdhary will file his papers for the LS bypoll on Tuesday next, a day after Ms Gandhi is slated to file her nominations, the SP leader informed.
''He has been an active SP worker and will not only make Ms Gandhi's re-election to parliament difficult, but may also end up upsetting pollsters calculations,'' Mr Verma claimed.
The Samajwadi party will contest the high-profile bypoll on two integral planks of ''anti-farmer policies of UPA government at the centre and the Aligarh Muslim university issue,'' Mr Verma added.
