Yuvraj enjoys brief captaincy stint, promises to come better
Indore, Apr 15 (UNI) Going through the perhaps the form of his life with three back-to-back Man of the Series awards in his pocket, Yuvraj Singh sounded like a Team India captain in making when he admitted enjoying leading the side in temporary absence of regular skipper Rahul Dravid during the final one dayer against England here today.
With vice captain Virender Sehwag dropped for the match and Dravid leaving the field for a few minutes, Yuvraj was seen in charge of the team and the dashing Punjab bat admitted he liked the experience.
''It was a very proud moment to lead the side, even though it was only in Rahul's absence. Yes, I enjoyed captaining the side,'' he told reporters after the match.
On his form, Yuvraj said, ''I have been working hard to improve myself and will be trying to get better. It's not that I'm playing well only now. I've been batting well and trying to be there till the end.'' Asked which of the last three Man of the Series award he cherished most, Yuvraj said, ''I cherish all of them but the Pakistan tour was perhaps the toughest series of all.'' Yuvraj has been adjudged Man of the Series against South Africa, Pakistan and now England.
In the presentation ceremony too, Yuvraj stressed it was sheer hard work and some luck that helped him develop as a better players.
''I would say it was because of good luck and the hard work.
Every day, I worked on my game and have been bowling a lot these days.'' Dravid, too felt that Yuvraj has developed into a more responsible player of late.
''I think he now plays with more responsibilities and tries to finish the game. He's now a senior member of the side, he and Kaif.
Maybe Yuvraj is junior to a few of us, but with so many youngsters coming into the side, they look up to him as one of the senior and regular players,'' Dravid added.
