Traders to launch five-day dharna from Monday
New Delhi, Apr 15: Traders in Delhi will begin a five-day dharna at Jantar Mantar from Monday to demand regularisation of shops in residential areas.
The traders have also invited political parties and elected representatives from Delhi to join them at the dharna to express their support to the traders' demand.
Meanwhile trade leaders of more than 50 trade bodies today attended a traders' conference where a resolution was passed demanding the Union Governemnt to regularise all commercial establishments by maintaining status quo.
The traders also demanded that any law or policy must be made with prospective effect.
Addressing the traders, the secretary general of the Confederation of All India traders Praveen Khandelwal said the genesis of the problem related to commercialisation in residential areas must be understood deeply since it arose because of failure of the DDA and the MCD to provide authorised commercial centres in Delhi in terms of the population ratio.
