Slight intensity quake measuring 4.8 in Meghalaya
Shillong, Apr 15: A slight intensity earthquake shook Meghalaya last night, with the epicenter lying at India-Myanmar border.
The intensity of the earthquake was 4.8 at the Richter scale and it was felt at 21.55 hrs IST. The epicenter was at latitude 24-degree north and longitude 94.9-degree east, said a met department official here today.
''The earthquake was of slight intensity and there has been no report of any kind of damage,'' said the official.
The North-Eastern part of India, which falls in the highest Seismic Zone in the country, is prone to earthquakes.
