Shimadzu Corp, Japan establishes an advanced CSC

Mumbai, Apr 15: Shimadzu Analytical (India) Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shimadzu Corporation, Japan, today inaugurated a Customer Support Centre(CSC) equipped with the state of the art instruments.

The facility, located at north-west Mumbai suburb Andheri East, was inaugurated by Prof.R.T.Sane Dean Kanakia Educational Trust and Japanese Consul General Yasui.

Addressing the media here, Reginal Rodrigues, General Manager, Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) PTE Ltd., said the CSC will mainly focus on customer training and aid in analytical method development for its customers. Shimadzu Analytical (India) has been established with a capital of Japanese Yen 100 million, which is rupee equivalent of Rs 4 crore, and will oversee this operation.

Replying to a question, Mr Rodrigues said, ''at the initial stage the India operation has a strength of 20 personnel, which we plan to increase to 40 within one year. Besides overseeing the activities of CSC, he continued, it will also provide the marketing support to its distributors.

The company is planning to set up a software development centre to meet the Corporations software needs in the near future,Mr Rodrigues said while responding to another query.

In India, Shimadzu is a house hold name in the scientific and educational fields with a high product reputation due to its ruggedness, durability and affordability. It caters to chemical, pharmaceutical, polymer, rubber, steel, foundry and many such industries wherever there is need for a chemical analysis.

With an annual turnover in excess of Rs 150 crore, Shimadzu has been marketing its products through technically qualified distributors through their sales network for more than 35 years.

Analytical/Scientific Market in India is roughly estimated at Rs 500 crore annually growing at around 15 per cent per annum.

In this, Shimadzu claims to have a market share of 30 per cent.
