Rs 5.5 crore diamonds seized from airport
Amritsar, Apr 15 (UNI) Sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) today seized diamonds worth Rs 5.5 crore from five peoples, including three women, at the Raja Sansi international airport here today.
Airport security officals, while confirming the seizure, said the diamonds were detected in the false bottom in briefcases/purses of the five people who had arrived in an Uzbekistan airlines flight. All the five have been detained by the DRI and are being questioned.
Officals said while three of the five held US passports, the other two possessed UK passports. The seizure was made on a tip off.
DRI officals when contacted refused to give any details but confirmed the seizure and said all the five were being interrogated.
