Nienu condemns NSCN actions

Kohima, Apr 15: Nagaland Agriculture Minister Kuzholuzo Nienu today expressed shock over the incident where the NSCN (K) cadres had tortured Village Council Chairman (VCC) Shenutso Soho at Phek.

Mr Nienu, in a statement, condemned such 'cowardly' act adding the VCC was an ex-member of the Naga National Council (NNC) and worked for the Naga cause throughout his life.

''His integrity could not be doubted as he is a sympathizer of the national cause. Such actions should be condemned by everybody,'' he said.

Mr Nienu also criticised the action of the NSCN (IM) cadres who had burnt down the entire Khabor reserved forest.

''This is a great loss to the Nagas,'' he said, adding such acts would never solve the Naga political problems.

The minister also urged the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) to initiate action against the guilty and requested both the factions of the NSCN to vacate the district headquarters for the interest of the people.
