Jaya dismisses opinions polls
Theni, Tamil Nadu, Apr 15 (UNI) Making light of opinion polls that predicted a close contest between fronts led by the AIADMK and DMK in the Assembly poll, AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today said 'the election results will prove them otherwise.' Talking to reporters after filing her nomination for the Andipatti seat at the District Collectorate here, she expressed confidence that the AIADMK-led Democratic People's Alliance would emerge victorious in most of the 234 constituencies in the state.
Ruling out the possibility of a hung assembly or a coalition government, she said the people of Tamil Nadu were known for giving a clear verdict. 'This time also, they will give a clear verdict.' To a question, the AIADMK General Secretary said she was never bothered about alliance arithmetic.
On proposed visits of national leaders including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, to the state for campaigning, Miss Jayalalitha claimed there was no battle or challenge in the state. 'This is an election to elect a state government and the people are very clear,' she said, implying that national leaders' campaigns would not have any impact.
