ISI active in 5 eastern UP districts: DGP
Varanasi, Apr 15 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh DGP Bua Singh today claimed that Pakistan's secret service ISI was active in five districts in Poorvanchal (eastern UP).
Talking to UNI here, Mr Singh said Varanasi, Ghazipur, Allahabad, Jaunpur and Azamgarh districts were the ISI's prime targets.
''These districts are infested by ISI-supported organisations.
But, we are already preparing a master plan to deal with the situation,'' he said.
He said the security and intelligence apparatus had been beefed up at the most sensitive places of Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.
''Police officers have been directed to work in close coordination with the intelligence sleuths to deal with crime.'' Meanwhile, the DGP has set a deadline of May 15 for the arrest of wanted criminals in the state. The concerned police officials would be taken to task if the target was not achieved, he maintained.
Earlier, Mr Singh held a meeting with the Varanasi zone police officials and collected information about the crime situation, especially naxalite activities.
The three Naxal infested districts of Chandauli, Sonebhadra and Mirzapur fall under Varanasi zone.
