Indonesia train crash kills 12, injures 14- Police
Jakarta, Apr 15: A train crash in Indonesia's Central Java province early today killed 12 people and injured 14, police said.
The accident occurred when two trains bound from Jakarta to Surabaya, Indonesia's second city, collided, a police official at Gubug near the crash site said.
''The victims are 12 killed and 14 injured. Three of (the injured) are in serious condition,'' police official Winarno told Reuters.
Train crashes and other transport accidents are relatively frequent in Indonesia, where infrastructure has strained to keep pace with population and economic growth.
