HM commander among 3 militants killed, six ultras surrender in J

Srinagar, Apr 15 (UNI) A Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander was among three militants killed while six ultras surrendered in the Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said today.

An encounter took place between militants and security forces at Punin Bhagwas under police station Dessa in Doda district of Jammu region last night, he said.

Two HM militants, including a deputy district commander Irshad Ahmad Moulvi and Mohammad Iqbal were killed. Two AK rifles, one pistol, four magzines, one mobile phone and one wireless set were recovered from the slain militants, the spokesman added.

A militant was killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in his hands at Khumiryal in the frontier district of Kupwara today, he said.

Militants shot at and wounded one Mohammad Iqbal Mir after kidnapping him from his Kulgam house last night. He was admitted to a hospital.

Five militants surrendered alongwith arms and ammunition at Uri while another surrendered at Kokernag last night, he said.
