Four of a family run over while crossing road

Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, Apr 15 (UNI) In a tragic incident, a family of four, including two children, was run over by a car while crossing road at Naravakkam village near Arakkonam in this district last night.

Police said Gurubaran (40), his wife Gauri and two daughters -- Monica (7) and Seema(4)-- were returning home after visiting a temple on the occasion of Tamil New Year yesterday.

The four were crossing the East Coast Road, connecting Chennai and Pondicherry, at around 2300 hrs last night when they were hit by a Pondicherry-bound car.

While Gurubaran and the two children were killed on the spot, Gauri succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
