Former MP commits suicide

Coimbatore, Apr 15 (UNI) Former Lok Sabha Member Anna Nambi committed suicide by consuming poison at his residence here last night, according to police.

He was 66. Anna Nambi, who joined the DMK three years back, took the extreme step due to loneliness, following the death of his wife last month due to prolonged illness. He consumed poison alongwith a colddrink last night and died, police said.

He was elected to Lok Sabha during 1984 election from Pollachi Reserve constituency on AIADMK ticket. He was defeated in the 1996 Lok Sabha election. He was also elected to the State Assembly.
