Former CPI(M) worker shot

Basirhat, Apr 15 (UNI) A discarded CPI(M) member of Boyarmari under Sandeshkhali police station in North 24 Parganas was gunned down today on the busy Basanti road at Kachukhali.

Police said the incident took place when three miscreants attacked the victim, Masur Molla, who was riding a motor cycle along with his younger brother on their way to Dhamakhali from Malancho market.

The miscreants fired on the victim's forehead from point blank range, killing him on the spot. However, his brother escaped unhurt.

CPI(M) party sources said the 36-year-old Masur along with his father, who was a local committee member of the party were sacked from the party two years back.

The body has been taken for post mortem and no arrest has been made yet.
