FIRs lodged against 159 persons

Daltonganj, Apr 15 (UNI) Police have lodged an FIR against 159 persons, including a circle officer and a station incharge in connection with police firing and stampede near a disputed religious structure in Bishrampur area of Palamu district on April 7.

Two persons were killed and 20 others were injured in the incident.

Superintendent of Police Udyan Singh told newsmen that three seperate FIRs had been lodged in the Bishrampur police station.

In one of the FIRs lodged by the villagers, C O Bhogendra Thakur and Bishrampur police station incharge N D Rai had also been accused under various sections of IPC.

The incident took place when a mob tried to forcefully enter a disputed religious place even as prohibitory orders were in force.
